Master Tang Lai Wei ” impossible for me to hold membership with both organisations.”
Dear WTPA Member
It is with deep regret that I must inform all Wushu & Tai Chi practitioners of the resignation of Master Tang Lai Wei from the Wushu & Tai Chi Practitioners Association.
Master Tang is certainly one of the most renowned and respected Wushu masters in Australia. He is a foundation member of WTPA and was awarded an honorary life membership in appreciation of his services to the association, and to the Wushu & Tai Chi community as a whole.
Unfortunately the powers that refer to themselves as the “peak organisation” have forced Master Tang to leave the association which he held dear to his heart.
The choice by Master Tang was to remain loyal to his students and for that, he should be rightly proud, and his students must hold him in the highest regard and appreciation.
We leave it to all Wushu & Tai Chi Practitioners who believe that the spirit of the art must prevail, to decide for themselves as to the morality of those insisting that such a decision must be made by a true Master.
Master Tang’s unedited letter of resignation follows (with Master Tang’s permission).

Dear Committee Members WTPA
I am writing to inform you all that unfortunately I am not in a position to renew my membership with WTPA at this time. This has not been an easy decision and one made after much consideration.
Due to the current AKWF and WTPA situation I have been advised that it is impossible for me to hold membership with both organisations. As non membership of the nationally recognised body will negatively impact my students who wish to compete in IWUF international competitions this is the only decision I can come to.
I wish WTPA all the best, and continue to promote Wushu and Tai Chi in Australia.
Kind Regards
Laiwei Tang”
